Information on Batteries and Electrical Equipment
We sell e-motorcycles, other electric vehicles and electrical accessories. This page therefore informs you, in accordance with the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG), the German Battery Act (BattDG) and the EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, how to dispose of waste electrical equipment and waste batteries correctly and where you can return them to us free of charge.
1. Which products are affected
- Vehicles without type approval (e.g. pure offroad e-motorcycles and the offroad versions of models that are also available with road approval): Electric two-wheeled vehicles that do not require type approval are electrical equipment within the meaning of the ElektroG. You will find a corresponding notice on the product pages concerned.
- Electrical accessories such as lighting also fall under the ElektroG.
- Vehicles with type approval (e.g. L1e, L3e) are vehicles and not electrical equipment within the meaning of the ElektroG.
- Batteries of electric vehicles are batteries within the meaning of the BattDG and the EU Battery Regulation. Traction batteries of up to 25 kg for light means of transport such as e-motorcycles are LMT batteries; heavier traction batteries are electric vehicle batteries.
2. Waste equipment does not belong in household waste
As the owner of waste electrical or electronic equipment, you are legally obliged to hand it over for collection separate from unsorted municipal waste. Waste equipment must not be put in the residual waste bin. Separate collection ensures that waste equipment is reused or recycled and that harmful substances do not enter the environment.
3. Remove batteries and lamps beforehand
Before handing over waste equipment to a collection point, you must separate any waste batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed by the device, as well as lamps that can be removed without being destroyed, and dispose of them separately. On many e-motorcycles the battery is removable. In this case, return it separately as a waste battery (see section 7).
Caution with lithium batteries: Lithium-ion batteries can catch fire or explode if damaged, short-circuited, overheated or handled improperly. Never dispose of them with household waste, protect the terminals against short circuits (e.g. by taping them), store damaged or swollen batteries in a cool, dry place away from flammable materials and contact us before returning them. Lithium batteries of e-motorcycles are dangerous goods and must not be shipped as a normal parcel.
4. Free return at moviba
We voluntarily take back waste equipment of the types we sell free of charge. You can also return waste batteries to us free of charge (see section 7):

You can also hand in waste equipment free of charge at the collection points of the public waste management authorities (e.g. the recycling centres of your town or municipality). You can find collection points near you at www.e-schrott-entsorgen.org.
5. Delete personal data
You are responsible for deleting any personal data on the waste equipment. Reset displays, apps, connected accounts and stored ride data before returning the device, where possible.
6. Meaning of the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on electrical equipment, batteries or their packaging means that at the end of their life they must not be disposed of with unsorted municipal waste (household waste) but must be collected separately. If the chemical symbol Pb (lead), Cd (cadmium) or Hg (mercury) is shown below the symbol on a battery, the battery exceeds the legal limit for this substance.
7. Information on batteries and accumulators
- Obligation to return: You are legally obliged to hand over waste batteries for collection separate from unsorted municipal waste. Waste batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.
- Free return: You can return waste batteries of the battery categories that we sell or have sold as new batteries (in particular batteries of e-motorcycles and other light means of transport) free of charge at the stores listed above. Returns are not tied to the purchase of a new product.
- Collection points: You can also hand in waste batteries at the take-back points of the public waste management authorities and of the producer responsibility organisations.
- Why separate collection matters: Batteries can contain substances that are harmful to the environment and health. At the same time, they contain valuable raw materials such as lithium, cobalt and nickel, which are recovered through recycling. By returning them separately, you make an important contribution to environmental protection and the circular economy.
- Extend service life and avoid waste: Only use the matching original charger, store the battery at a medium state of charge in a dry, frost-free place during longer periods of non-use (e.g. in winter), avoid deep discharge, high heat and direct sunlight, and have defects checked by a specialist workshop. A repaired or reused battery avoids waste.
- Safety: Do not charge or use damaged, hot, swollen or leaking batteries any longer and store them safely until they are returned (see section 3).
