In 2025, Can-Am will launch its new Pulse and Origin electric motorcycles, 50 years after the introduction of the first Can-Am motorcycles. Originally planned for 2024, the launch was delayed until 2025 due to technical developments and market requirements. The new models are equipped with the Rotax E-Power drive, which delivers up to 35 kW (48 hp). Both motorcycles offer impressive performance, such as 0-100 km/h in about 4 seconds and a range of up to 160 km for the Pulse naked bike.
Can-Am Pulse and Origin: Variants for A2 and A1
The Can-Am Pulse and Origin are available for different driver’s license classes. For the A2 driver’s license, there is a version with 35 kW (48 hp), while both models are also available in a less powerful A1 version with 11 kW (15 hp), which can be driven from the age of 16 or with the B196 car driver’s license extension. The powerful Rotax E-Power drive was developed by the Austrian company Rotax, part of the BRP Group, and is liquid-cooled.
Performance data and driving comfort
The Can-Am Pulse and Origin offer impressive performance. With a maximum torque of 72 Nm, they reach a top speed of 129 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 4 seconds. In addition to their speed, both models feature a sophisticated chain drive that is fully enclosed and protected by an oil bath. This design allows for long inspection intervals (every 16,000 km).
Range and battery charging times
The liquid-cooled battery pack with a capacity of 8.9 kWh enables a range of up to 160 km for the Pulse and up to 145 km for the Enduro Origin. Charging time varies depending on the connection: with a Level 2 connection, the battery can be charged in about one hour.
Differences between Pulse and Origin
The Pulse naked bike weighs 177 kg and offers agile and sporty handling. With 140 mm of suspension travel and an upside-down telescopic fork from KYB, it is ideal for urban traffic. The Enduro Origin, on the other hand, weighs 187 kg and, with 255 mm of suspension travel and larger wheels (21 inches at the front, 18 inches at the rear), offers the perfect equipment for off-road adventures.
State-of-the-art technology and equipment
Both models are equipped with a 25-inch touchscreen that is connected via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. With the BRP Go! app, riders can connect their smartphones and control functions. Illuminated handlebar switches and extensive accessories such as heated grips, protective bars, windshields, and top cases are also available.
Prices and availability
The Can-Am Pulse will start at €16,899 in Germany, and the Enduro Origin at €17,499. Both models are expected to be available from early 2025. BRP also plans to expand its dealer network to serve the growing market for electric motorcycles.
With these new models, Can-Am marks an impressive return to the motorcycle world, this time with a clear focus on electric mobility and innovation. The Pulse and Origin offer an exciting blend of tradition and future technology, appealing to both urban commuters and off-road enthusiasts.
